« I started taking pictures from a very early age on. The process of developing my own analogue films always fascinated me and gave me a very intimate connection to photography. I stuck to analogue photography all along my studies and the selection for YLA contains some of my visual work exploring photography through a very personal approach.
As an engineering and architecture student, I developed a true passion for our built environment and with my visual photographic works, I try to address certain aspects of it. Architecture is a recurrent subject in my works and I try
to raise the viewer's attention with different angles and details which might have escaped the novice eye. The body of work for YLA is a selection which spans over more than 4 years and reflects personal impressions from different corners around the world. The graphical language is often kept in a minimalistic way and the objects might sometimes seem out of place. The choice of simple and basic framing allows me to reduce the photographic object to its absolute minimum so
that I almost remove it from it’s usual context. The viewer is presented with a new vision and thus a new possibility to approach the subject. »
